Braille

Artist Kerry Lemon wanted to share a message written especially for the primary school pupils and teenagers that worked with her on the outreach for the project. Each pillar contains a braille message created especially for them, but if you want to read it too, each pillar includes a dictionary so that you can translate it.

The Trail

These artworks form part of a ‘Healthy Living’ walking trail across the site and you can download the ‘Go Jauntly’ app if you’d like to follow this on your mobile device OR you can download the instructions as a printable PDF from here.

Keep your eyes peeled for this SWIFT route (please note parts of this route do not have dropped kerbs)

Look out for this RED ADMIRAL BUTTERFLY route (route with dropped kerbs designed for wheelchairs).

Follow the Arrows

You can start anywhere along the routes, but look out for the large info board in the village square. There are two versions of the route and you just need to look out for the corresponding icon for each journey to stay on track;

You’ll spot these icons on the ground, on street name plates, on bollards, on wooden posts and even on lamp posts so you won’t get lost! Just copy the direction of the arrow on each one to find out which way to go.

So if the arrow is pointing left you’ll need to turn left, if it points right then turn right and if it’s straight up then just head straight on.

The Games

Both routes include a special interactive game on the floor, you’ll find these;
On Camp Road between Izzard Road & Dacey Drive for the SWIFT standard route and the Soden Road green space for the BUTTERFLY accessible route (where the game has been designed to be suitable for those in wheelchairs)
